Glossary of Employee Self-Service Terms

A

Appraisal: A formal evaluation of an employee's performance.

Asset Request: The process through which employees request necessary work-related items.

B

Beneficiary: An individual designated to receive benefits from an employee’s plan. Benefits Plan: Insurance or retirement plan provided by the employer.

C

Competency: A specific skill or capability evaluated within appraisals. Cumulative Leave: Leave that can roll over from one year to the next. D

Dependants: Family members or others for whom an employee can designate benefits. Document Upload: Function for uploading documents like certifications or IDs.

E

Employee Self-Service (ESS): A portal allowing employees to manage personal and professional information independently.

Entitlement: Employee benefits or leave granted based on their employment status.

G

Goal: A target assigned to an employee, tracked within the system for performance purposes. Goal Weight: The importance assigned to a specific goal in evaluating performance.

Health Plan Claims: Claims submitted by employees for medical expenses under their benefits.

I

Identification Data: Personal data fields, such as ID numbers, that employees can update in their profiles. Internal Job Posting: Job vacancies visible to current employees for internal applications.

Leave Request: Application process for various types of leave, such as vacation or sick leave. Login Credentials: Username and password required to access the HRplus system.

M

Manager Review: The evaluation completed by a manager as part of the appraisal process.

P

Payslip: Document detailing an employee's earnings and deductions for a given pay period. Profile Update: Any changes or edits made by employees to their personal data in the system. R

Recruitment Task: Assigned responsibilities related to hiring, often involving multiple team members.

S

Self-Appraisal: An evaluation an employee completes to reflect on their own performance. Shift Schedule: The working hours assigned to an employee, visible in the ESS portal.

T

Training Schedule: Calendar of training sessions for skill development and compliance.

U

Unapproved Changes: Edits made by employees in their profiles awaiting HR approval.

V

Vaccine Record: Documentation of an employee’s vaccinations updated within their profile.
